Community Investment

The Michigan City Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) and the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC) are partnering in a first-ever joint economic development program of action. Both organizations are working together on overall county-wide economic development efforts, including new business attraction, existing business retention, research and marketing. This is indeed a unique effort in helping position this area as the location of choice for new business investment and existing business growth.

Both organizations have historically received funding from the cities of Michigan City and La Porte, the Urban Enterprise Zones and from the private sector. Additional funding from the business community is essential to launch the new, expanded and aggressive economic development initiatives planned through this pivotal joint program. The financial goal will be shared by both organizations for administration and implementation of the program as well as for the overall aggressive county-wide marketing effort.

We are asking you to make a pledge or multi-year commitment toward the funding of this new approach to economic development. Your financial investment in this effort is critical to the program's success which will ultimately result in enhancing the overall economic vitality and quality of life here. We are partnering with the Unity Foundation of La Porte County which is establishing a special fund for these donations.
