McKee Named Retention & Expansion Coordinator
La Porte, Ind. (February 13th, 2012) — The La Porte Economic Development Alliance (the Alliance) is pleased to announce the hiring of Brian McKee as the new Retention and Expansion Coordinator. Bert Cook,
co-director of the Alliance stated: “Brian is a great addition to the Alliance Team. His knowledge and experience with La Porte County businesses will assist him in his new role".
McKee grew up in Greensburg, IN and holds a Bachelor Degree from Marian College. Before joining GLEDC he spent nearly 5 years serving Indiana University Health in various marketing positions. Most recently he focused on the business to business arm of IU Health, as the marketing coordinator for Occupational Services.
Brian is a member of the Long Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Michigan City Rotary Club, and serves on multiple Michigan City Chamber of Commerce committees. He also serves on the board of Directors for both Shirley Heinze Land Trust and Northern Indiana Human Resource Management Association (NIHRMA). He is a Leadership La Porte County graduate and enjoys volunteering for Junior Achievement and the La Porte Hospital Foundation.
Brian and his wife, Brigid, live in Michigan City with their three children, Aedan, Maeve and Declan. Brian enjoys spending time with his family. He also likes music, watching and playing sports and anything outdoors.
“I am excited to join the La Porte County Economic Alliance team and am eager to continue building strong relationships with area businesses. I also look forward to collaborating with the La Porte County Commissioners and Council, the La Porte and Michigan City Chambers of Commerce, and local Government to continue the goal of improving communication and meeting the needs of our businesses community."
Mr. McKee will be focusing on meeting with our La Porte county manufacturing and commercial businesses on a bi-annual basis. He will be coordinating with the appropriate local government officials to conduct site visits and to complement the current programs in the City of La Porte and Michigan City. All information collected during the site visits is confidential and is used to identify trends and highlight issues that need to be addressed. This process allows the La Porte County Economic Development Alliance to interact with our businesses, address concerns, work on growth issues, and cultivate local supply chains.

That’s why we want to assist our companies with their issues and growth opportunities from workforce development to recruiting suppliers.,” stated John Regetz Co-Director of the Alliance.

The La Porte County Economic Development Alliance is a joint venture formed between the Michigan City Economic Development Corporation and the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation in January 2010.
